After graduating with journalism degrees from the University of South Florida and Columbia Journalism School, Amaris Castillo spent her first few post-grad years in entertainment journalism. At Univision News (now called Fusion), she produced, shot and edited video packages for red carpets and film festivals. At Latina Magazine, she interviewed singers, actors and musicians and managed the magazine’s social media networks.

Castillo later returned to Florida and began working at a newspaper, where she now interviews concerned citizens, local government officials and grieving family members. She covers everything from crime to issues that matter to the community and general assignment stories.

Every day brings a new story.
